Event Safety

YOUR SAFETY AND ENJOYMENT are very important to us. We advise ALL ROADS ARE OPEN and all Road Rules apply.

The Tour de Whitemans course is a 33km circuit through Silverstream, up Blue Mountains, along Whitemans and Mangaroa Valleys down Mangaroa Hill and return through Upper Hutt streets.

The circuit is well-marked out with cones and signage.

There will be 40 Marshalls, an ambulance, motorcyclists and recovery vehicles on the circuit. Back at Silverstream School will be a First Aid station. The marshalls are sited on the course as a visual cue for all road users and to assist in the overall, smooth running of this event.

Remember all road rules apply.

All riders will start together, following a lead vehicle at a controlled speed for a short warm-up circuit, The group will then cross the transponder pad, heading for the start of Blue Mountains hill... and you can set your own pace!

We ask that you proceed with caution and prepare to give way at intersections.

There is a dangerous decent - Mangaroa hill. It starts with some nice corners and you can get some good speed up. BUT...as you go down it steepens. The last corners really tighten and it gets corrugated and bumpy. Be ready to brake and keep left.

We appreciate you leading by example and not abusing other road users when they fail to: give way, keep left, or apply correct road rules.

To save you from starvation after the event, a buffet lunch will be served!!
(12:00 to 1:30).
